[Case Study of Food Factory] From 4-person operation to 1-person operation for labor reduction.

[Food Factory Case Study] From 4-person operation to 1-person operation for labor reduction.

■ Customer's Issues and Concerns In a factory located in an area where it is difficult to gather workers, the task of packaging 10 items into secondary packaging was divided among four people: one person consolidated the 10 items, two people handled the bagging, and one person applied seals. Due to the urgent need for labor reduction, we received an inquiry about the manufacturing of a "collective packaging machine" that packages the 10 items together. ■ Proposed Solution We proposed a fully automated packaging machine that performs transportation, accumulation, and packaging in accordance with the speed at which the products are dispatched. Since they requested a processing speed of 300 bags per hour, we suggested a high-speed three-side sealing packaging machine. ■ Effects of Implementation - Automation of packaging reduced the workforce from four to three, with only one person remaining for visual inspection. - Achieved a 75% reduction in labor for the relevant work process. - By vacuum sealing the packaging, we were able to reduce the size of the transport boxes, leading to cost savings. - The transport boxes, which previously extended beyond the pallets, now fit neatly due to their reduced size, making management easier.

[Case Study of Food Factory] Ensuring Safety and Eliminating Product Loss

[Case Study of Food Factory] Ensuring Safety and Eliminating Product Loss

■ Customer's Issues Various food products with different shapes, sizes, and weights are individually packaged, and although a commercial packaging machine for packaging them into one pack had already been introduced, the bags being used were of a fixed size, resulting in loose packaging for smaller items. Additionally, product damage due to malfunctions was occurring, prompting the consideration of a new packaging machine that emphasizes cost reduction and safety. ■ Proposed Solution We proposed a machine that adjusts and cuts the bag length according to the product's length, and to prevent accidental damage to the products, multiple sensors were installed, ensuring both cost reduction and safety. Given the desired processing speed of 450 bags per hour, we suggested a high-speed three-side sealing machine that removes excess air without the products touching, adding value in terms of ease of management and transportation after packaging. ■ Implementation Effects - Packaging can now be done with bags tailored to the product's length, leading to material cost reductions. - The machine design prevents malfunctions, reducing waste and enabling smooth operations. - After experiencing the benefits of one unit, three additional units were manufactured, resulting in a total of four units in use. - A similar custom machine was requested from another factory of the same company, and one unit was delivered, bringing the total to five units utilized within the group.

[Food Factory Case Study] Reduction of 1.5 staff per line × 3 lines

[Case Study of Food Factory] Reduction of 1.5 staff per line × 3 lines

■ Customer's Issues and Concerns There was one person responsible for visually checking the printed products and another person for manually packaging five items together into secondary packaging, resulting in a two-person system for one line. With the launch of the new factory, there was a goal to reduce manpower, and automation was considered for the packaging process across three lines. ■ Proposed Solution A packaging machine was proposed that allows for manual grouping of products into five after visual inspection, which are then manually fed onto a conveyor. Since it is semi-automatic, it can be introduced at a lower cost, and the customer expressed a desire for simultaneous implementation across three lines. They requested a processing speed of 300 bags per hour, so a high-speed three-side sealing machine was proposed. ■ Effects of Implementation - With the simultaneous introduction of three lines, it became possible to monitor all three lines with 1.5 personnel. - Reduced the workforce from six personnel across three lines to 4.5, achieving a 75% reduction in manpower. - Different packaging machines were introduced according to the size and shape of the products, allowing similar products to be packaged in the same manner.
